Sarvam AI

Sarvam AI is an Indian artificial intelligence company founded in 2023 by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar and headquartered in Bengaluru, India. Both founders were previously associated with AI4Bharat, an open-source Indian-language AI initiative at IIT Madras. The company builds a full-stack, multilingual AI platform focused on Indian languages, developing large language models, speech-to-text and text-to-speech models, and translation systems, together with voice and text agents used by governments, enterprises, and nonprofits. Its products support numerous Indian languages and include document-understanding and OCR tools for Indian scripts. Sarvam AI was selected under India's IndiaAI Mission to help build a sovereign large language model for the country, and its investors include Lightspeed Venture Partners, Peak XV Partners, and Khosla Ventures.
